What areas do you cover for scooter rentals?
We operate out of our shop in Esmoriz, PT. We provide sales, service and rentals of citycoco electric scooters from Aveiro to Porto.
How do I get to your store?
You can easily take and Uber/Bolt or drive to our store, and there is plenty of free parking. Alternatively, you can take the train from either Aveiro or Porto/Gaia and get off at the Esmoriz station. The shop is a quick 10 minute walk from the station.
How long can I rent a scooter for?
Our standard daily rentals are 2, 4 or 6 hours. We offer multi-day rentals from 2-7 days. If you would like to book for longer than 7 days (e.g. monthly) please contact us directly.
How fast is the scooter?
The scooters are capable of 35+ km/h, depending on rider weight and other factors.
What is the range of the scooter?
Each standard rental includes one 12AH and one 20AH battery. That allows for approx 55-65km of range depending on route, weight, and riding style. You can also choose to replace the 12AH with another 20AH battery on your rental for an additional fee to unlock up to 80+ km of range.
Do you offer Guided Tours?
We don't currently offer guided tours, but we're more than happy to share some excellent routes and scenic spots for you to enjoy on your ride.
How do I book a scooter rental?
You can book directly through our website. Go to our rentals page, click on the green button "BOOK YOUR RENTAL HERE" to go to our booking page. Then simply choose your rental duration (2-6 hours OR 2-7 days) and complete the checkout process.
What do I need to rent a scooter?
You need to be 17 years old or older, valid driving licence and/or a form of ID and a valid payment method. Helmets and required insurances are provided with every rental.
What happens if I return the scooter late?
Late rental returns may incur an additional charge. Please contact us as soon as possible if you think you'll be running late.
Can I cancel or modify my rental booking?
Yes, cancellations and modifications can be made up to 24 hours before your rental start time. Please contact us directly for assistance.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as MBway and Klarna (purchases only) through our secure checkout.
Is there a deposit to rent?
Yes, there is a deposit of 150€ per scooter, per rental. It will be refunded in full to your method of payment within 24 hours, minus any charges for damages. If the scooter is determined to be a total loss and your are responsible, you will charged for the full retail value (see our Terms & Conditions).
Can 2 people ride on 1 scooter?
We suggest 1 scooter per person for maximum enjoyment. It's OK to ride with 1 adult and 1 child (age 10+) on a single scooter, but with two adults on a single scooter there is a risk of burning the motor out and the scooter becoming a total loss (see above).
How do I contact you?

How do I charge the scooter?
Use the provided charger and plug it into the battery, then plug the charger into a standard wall outlet. Takes 4-6 hours to fully charge the battery depending on size (12AH vs 20AH). Don't leave it plugged in for long periods of time once the green light indicates a full charge.
How do I move the scooter?
Only move your scooter when the key is turned to the OFF position. Once you are seated and ready to go, turn the key to the ON position. It’s easy to turn the throttle when moving it, be safe and ensure the scooter is OFF.
How do I accelerate the scooter?
You must be seated on the scooter, and the kickstand must be up. Gently twist the throttle (right handle) until you attain the desired speed. They have instant torque, so be gentle until you are comfortable and get a feel. Remember, less throttle = more kms.
How do I slow/stop the scooter?
Every scooter is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes on the front and rear wheels. There are two brake levers. The front brake is on the right handlebar, the rear brake is on the left. Gently squeeze the brake levers at the same time to come to a complete stop. Do not brake suddenly while turning.
How do I read the information display?
Every scooter is equipped an LCD display, that shows the following information:
- Speed (km/h)
- Speed mode (1/2/3; speed mode 2 is optimal)
- Odometer
- Headlight & Turn indicator status
- Brakes (when engaged)
- Motor fault

What makes these scooters safe and easy to ride?
Every citycoco scooter has safety incorporated into the design to ensure a reliable and fun experience, including:

What are the speed modes?
Each scooter is equipped with 3 speed modes: 1, 2, and 3. They are selected from the red switch on the right side control housing.
- Mode 1: ideal for learning to ride and familizaring yourself with the scooter, and offers maximum range.
- Mode 2: The optimal mode for most people, with a fun balance of acceleration and range.
- Mode 3: Should not be used, as it will drain the batteries very quickly.
Are helmets required?
Yes, and they are provided with every rental. We also offer high-visibiilty safety vests upon request. The use of a properly fitted & secured protective helmet is mandatory when traveling in the vehicle.
Are these scooters legal?
Yes, these scooters are legal and confirm to Article 112 of the Traffic Code (DEMOP). Civil liability insurance, although not mandatory, is however advisable on purchase and provided with every rental. Purchasers should secure the correct Electric Vehicle matriculation plate ("DEMOP" or "Electric Vehicle) before taking delivery.
How do I operate the turn signals/indicators?
Every scooter is equipped with both front & rear turn signals. They are activated by the switch located on the the left side control housing on the handlebars. Before riding, ensure that all indicators are working correctly.
How do I operate the brake lights?
Every scooter is equipped with both front & rear brakes that activate the rear brake light. They are activated automatically by squeezing one or both of the brake levers. Before riding, ensure that the brake lights are working correctly.
How do I operate the horn?
Every scooter is equipped with a horn for audible safety. It is activated by pressing the Horn button on the left side control housing on the handlebars. Before riding, ensure that the horn is working correctly.
How do I operate the headlight?
Every scooter is equipped with an LED front headlight for low light riding & for visibility. It is activated by hitting the button on the top of the left side control housing. High/Low Beam is selected by switch below it. Before riding, ensure that the headlight are working correctly. We recommend always riding with the high beams on for safety!
Can I get the scooter wet?
The scooters are robust & will be OK in a light rain or going through a shallow puddle. Spraying with water to clean the scooter could damage electrical components so we recommend cleaning with a damp cloth. Storing Outside? We recommend covering the scooter with a waterproof cover (available for purchase in our shop, and included on 2+ day rentals).
What pressure should the tires be inflated to?
Regularly check the tire pressure to make sure it is inflated to the proper pressure. Low tire pressure can affect speed, performance, & safety. Ideal operating pressure is 10 PSI or 0.7 Bar.
How do I care for the batteries?
Do not store batteries in temperatures greater than 40°C (104°F) or lower than -10°C (-14°F). Extreme temperatures can damage the battery. Batteries & connections should be kept clean & free of obstacles. Do no leave batteries on chargers for longer than 1 hour after full charge, doing so will degrade capacity & void the warranty.
How do I take care of the brakes?
Every scooter is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes. We recommend replacing the brake fluid every 6 months, with (fluid type indicated on the reservoir caps). Keep brake discs wiped clean with a damp cloth or brake cleaner for best operation & to prevent squeaking.
